Streamlining Agile in the Energy Sector

Ambition

A client in the energy sector needed to move to agile methodologies as part of a larger IT transformation. They struggled with a lack of agile resources, making it tough to keep track of the project portfolio and wasting time in ad-hoc alignment meetings. Their management team sought a new way of working that would facilitate the shift to agile while ensuring they kept track of progress and initiatives across the department.

Solution

To smooth the client's transition, we combined insights from stakeholder interviews with an evaluation of current meetings to figure out the ideal new working model for agile alignment. We cut down on alignment meetings, set up a strategy portfolio synchronization meeting for a comprehensive project overview, and created a Steering Committee format for overseeing key projects. All critical details were documented on a dedicated SharePoint site. We also helped hire and onboard the necessary agile resources for the information security department to support the full transition.

Outcome
  • A full transition to agile ways of working was achieved.
  • Key projects were successfully tracked and progressed until the agile transition was completed.
  • The time spent on alignment meetings was cut in half, boosting overall operational efficiency.
