Kopenhagen Konsulting was tasked with developing and implementing a digitalization strategy for a Quality organization that spans over 1,500 employees. The aim was to boost the efficiency of quality processes, overcome digitalization barriers, and establish a clear roadmap for digital transformation. This would lead to better quality assurance and more streamlined workflows throughout the company’s value chain.
We took a three-phase approach to tackle this challenge. First, we conducted more than fifteen workshops across the value chain, pinpointing digitalization barriers and aligning the strategy with both internal goals and industry best practices. This phase wrapped up with the identification of four major digitalization challenges the organization was facing. In the second phase, we partnered with senior management from Quality and IT to carve out the strategic direction, focusing on four key objectives: enabling real-time data access, reducing reliance on paper-based processes, promoting common technology platforms for smoother workflows, and enhancing the organization’s digital readiness. Each objective was paired with short-, medium-, and long-term action plans.
In the final phase, we moved to strategy operationalization. A dedicated digitalization unit within Quality was established to lead the digital initiatives. We crafted a comprehensive catalog of digitalization ideas designed to fuel bottom-up implementation, supported by a top-down approach to drive change. The multifaceted model was designed to integrate digital practices deeply into the company’s operations and culture.
The digital quality strategy garnered strong executive support and was embraced across the organization, highlighted by its successful launch at digital company conference days. Key achievements included:
