Shaping a Stronger Security Strategy Amid Industry Shifts

Ambition

With rising threats in the life science industry and major shifts in the company’s business outlook, the client needed to revisit their information security strategy. They brought in Kopenhagen Konsulting to work with their Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) on crafting a new strategic direction that would align with future priorities and challenges.

Solution

We at Kopenhagen Konsulting took a three-step approach to this strategic overhaul, working closely with the CISO and internal experts. First, we analyzed and summarized the threat landscape, not only within the client company but also across the life science industry and its peers. This provided a clear, actionable threat picture to prioritize efforts and identify gaps. Next, we delved into the company’s evolving business landscape, assessing the long-term drivers affecting the IT and information security teams. This led to the identification of three key change drivers that directly impacted the security posture, highlighting areas that required mitigation to ensure ongoing resilience. Finally, we established strategic focus areas such as Zero Trust, Data Protection, M&A risk management, and others, aligning them with the long-term change drivers to bolster the company’s information security framework.

Outcome

The Board of Directors approved the new strategic direction, which was then communicated to other management bodies. From there, it was broken down into actionable steps, guiding the company on its security journey and ensuring effective execution at every level. This cohesive strategy empowered the organization to stay ahead of industry changes and maintain robust information security across the board.
